My name is Charlie Parent. I am a 21-year-old student journalist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Upon graduation in May of 2026, I intend to work in the sports industry - in communications, operations or reporting. As a Brand Communications Assistant with Wisconsin Athletics, I’ve spent three years strategizing and executing the vision for all external communications regarding the Badgers’ football, track, basketball and golf teams. Additionally, through my writing as a national recruiting analyst for Zagsblog.com, I’ve been excited to create exposure for young athletes that don’t otherwise receive the media attention they deserve. I'm currently responsible for UW-Madison Men’s and Women’s Golf communications, and Basketball is just around the corner! Click on the photos below to view my recent work.

Recent Work : UW-Madison Athletics
Since August of 2023, I have worked for Wisconsin Athletics; writing and posting for the Strategic Communications department. I’ve covered Football, Soccer, Track & Field, Cross Country, Hockey, Basketball, and Men’s and Women’s Golf. In Fall of 2024, I primarily worked with the Badger football team, assisting in press box setup and game day operations for national and local media. Non-game days focused on shaping the brand’s story for a national audience. As a senior, I am managing/will manage Strat Comms for Men’s and Women’s Golf and Basketball.

Recruiting
From 2021-2024, I covered college basketball recruiting with New York Times contributor Adam Zagoria on Zagsblog.com. As a national recruiting analyst, I conducted interviews with over 300 players and coaches, tracked player commitments across their high school careers and forged valuable connections throughout the basketball community.
